Married life
On 2nd July, Jack and I got married and I became Mrs Silvani!
These are some of the key things I remember from the day. It passed in a brilliant blur.
I thought my heart was going to thump out of my chest while waiting for my lateral flow to develop (it was negative)
Jack went for a pre-marital swim in the sea while I drank champagne with my bridesmaids and men
I nearly slithered out of my shoes in front of the registrar and guests because I was so nervous
The sun came out during the ceremony and my mum whooped at the sky
The registrar made a comment about the importance of “patience” in a marriage and my mum proceeded to laugh very loudly, setting off a ricochet of giggles. Everyone there knew patience is a virtue I need to learn
Immediately after the ceremony, my grandad told me my grandma would have been so proud and I absolutely lost it
We held the reception amid sea fog on Camber Sands. Seagulls pooed on both my sister and dad. They were the only two people to suffer this misfortune
A true highlight was when we walked through the confetti on the beach. That’s when it really hit me that almost all of our loved ones were in one place
I managed to get through a speech thanking all the incredible people in our lives without weeping
My dad told everyone about Jack’s regular lunchtime visits to the Royal Marsden when my mum was first diagnosed with cancer - it really put my eyelash extensions’ durability to the test. My sister was on hand with tissues
During his speech, Jack revealed we met on Tinder seven years ago. I told my mum we met “out and about” early on and really committed myself to that slight variation of the truth (everyone else knew)
Jack’s brother had the room roaring with laughter for a solid ten minutes. Jack says I’m not allowed to share the anecdotes on this blog
The outdoor dance floor was packed all night
We didn’t make it to the post-wedding beach party because the heavens opened at midnight and exhaustion started to sink in
My man of honour, however, attended two afterparties
Two of my bridesmaids couldn’t come due to covid which was pretty heartbreaking. Some friends livestreamed parts of the day so they could still feel involved
Due to covid concerns and last minute changes of plans, I had a significant stress-induced acne breakout. Thankfully, the sheer joy and excitement of the day acted like the best concealer - even better than my Estee Lauder double wear. I’ve since discovered a miracle treatment - Clinisept (£12 on Amazon, truly life-changing, and you should trust this recommendation because I’m a lifelong spot-haver)
It was quite simply the most incredible day
And nothing about our relationship has changed… so far. It’s just really nice to say Jack is my “husband”. Two months on and the novelty is still so wonderful
Here are some of my favourite photos taken by my lovely friend Becky Rui.
